Unexpected Agenda by Roberto Giobbi
I am a big fan of all of Roberto Giobbi’s books, but I particularly enjoy the “Agenda” books. Unexpected Agenda follows the format established by the previous two volumes of the series: for each of the 365 days of the year, Roberto offers an interesting nugget of information, designed to stimulate your own thought processes. There are moves and brief routines presented, but there are also practical performance tips, recollections of people and conventions, book suggestions, and much, much more.
In order to offer you a timely review, I read this book in exactly the way Roberto asks you not to do it: from front to back in a couple of days. Roberto wants you to actually ponder each day’s offering. This, of course, will require your active participation; I encourage you to do this. Eliminate the noise and clutter that floods your inbox and focus on one thing. If Roberto asks you to write out your opinion on a topic, do so.
Roberto Giobbi is certainly magic’s preeminent curator of conjuring information, particularly in the area of card magic. I always find useful things in his writings, and Unexpected Agenda did not disappoint.
I suggest you start each day by actively engaging with an entry from Roberto’s agenda and watch how your magical horizons expand.
