What a valuable text this is for anyone thinking about performing on TV

This book is not big in page count, but it is big where it really counts. Mike has more experience than most on the subject of making magic for television. In this book he shares that knowledge with you. Regardless of the type of TV performing you are going to do, you will find incredibly valuable information here. I can speak from experience...Mike helped me improve my performances on Fool Us and that was worth more than even appearing on the show. If you want to perform on TV, you need this book!

Thin publication with good but basic advice

I have no doubt that this publication contains very good advice and valuable insights from a knowledgeable man. However, I would’ve expected a longer and more in depth discussion. This is more of a pamphlet than an ebook.

Hi Peter: You write, “I would’ve expected a longer and more in depth discussion.” What topics do you feel I did not discuss adequately? I would be happy to expand the book in an update (which would be free to purchasers), but what I’ve included is exactly what you need to know (and think about) before you perform on television. Every chapter of the book addresses a question or problem for you (the performer) to solve. The time to begin working on those questions/problems is right now, so you are prepared if you are contacted to be on TV. Because the goal of being on TV is to promote you and your brand, I cannot (without having a personal consultation) offer specific solutions to adapting your script or your repertoire. I can only explain the things you need to think about. The goal is for the reader to establish their unique personality and brand through the routine they perform on TV. Any repertoire I might suggest would weaken that goal. The same holds for the due diligence chapter. Everyone’s experience will be different, depending on the talk shows in their area. For me to do a post mortem on any particular show doesn’t help you when you have to do your own evaluations. In every chapter, I tell you what you need to accomplish, but I cannot do the work for you. Feel free to reach out to me personally (mail@michaelclose.com) if I can be of further assistance.
